Study Abroad
Although geography is constant, technological advances have narrowed the metaphorical distance between people around the globe. Our world is becoming smaller and we are increasingly interdependent on a number of levels - economically, technologically, politically, and socioculturally.
We value the role that international experiences play in preparing you for a successful career and leadership roles in our increasingly diverse and challenging global environment. Honing global competencies is crucial for graduates, whether you remain here and contribute to Texas or travel beyond its borders.
Why should I go abroad?
An international experience builds the skills and qualities that employers look for. Also, you will learn about your own capabilities and goals. You will experience subjects that come alive when in their environment, rather than simply read about in texts. By reaching beyond borders and experiencing another culture, you will gain new perspective and become more globally engaged. In addition, study abroad returnees show higher rates of civic participation, volunteerism, social entrepreneurship, and are more likely to attend graduate school.
