Bio
Casandra Owens is a PhD student in Cultural Anthropology, with a bachelors in Recreation, Park and Tourism Sciences and a minor in Anthropology from Texas A&M University. Her primary research interest is the intersection of anthropology and the natural environment, including nutrition, ethnobotany, and human wildlife conflict. She gained experience conducting and presenting ethnographic research while studying soft drink consumption in relation to diabetes in Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo, Mexico. Her goal is to produce accessible media content to inspire curiosity, spread understanding, and create sustainable change.
