Bio
Claire earned BAs in Archaeology and Classics from Sweet Briar College in 2018. While broadly interested in Archaic and Classical Mediterranean seafaring, cultural contact and exchange, she is also intrigued by linguistics and Classical reception. Her latest research avenues are taking her in the direction of the ancient honey trade and beekeeping. Currently, she is working on her master’s thesis, which recorded three early 20th century Sicilian mattanza fishing boats and evaluates the use of photogrammetric 3D models in preserving public cultural heritage. Claire has experience with terrestrial fieldwork and ceramic analysis in southeastern Kazakhstan, Roman mosaic conservation with the Centro di Conservazione Archaeologica in central Italy, and nautical field work with the Marzamemi Maritime Heritage Project in Sicily.
