Bio

Hao-Yu Cho is a Ph.D. student in cultural anthropology. He received a BA and MA in Anthropology from National Taiwan University -Thesis: Half Life of Tea– from production to marketing. During his MA program, he studied in rural mode of production and the price decision under a specific form of labour, and then decided to shift his research focus to urban sector. Hao-Yu’s Ph. D. research will focus on working class life in Mexico. Generally speaking, he is a part-time Marxist, but not a loyal follower of Marx. He never likes Liberalism/Neo-Liberalism, but sometimes cannot deny that John Stuart Mill was right in many places. His interests are located in political economy, modernity, urban study, poverty study and reflective anthropology. Due to his deep interest in photography, Hao-Yu also likes visual anthropology and related topics.
