Bio
Kevin finished his BA in Archaeology at Murray State University in 2020 with minors in Spanish, Biology, and Chemistry. He is a PhD student in Archaeology with focuses on paleoethnobotany and ancient DNA. His research interests include understanding more about the domestication of various crops throughout Central and Mesoamerica and their broader social impacts. His current research involves the genomic sequencing of preserved ancient avocado remains from the El Gigante Rockshelter in the Honduran highlands. Kevin’s past experiences include working with archaeobotanical and ceramic data collected from Matacanela, Veracruz, a terrestrial and underwater archaeology field school in Bluefields Bay, Jamaica, CRM surveys in Western Kentucky, and an internship at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History.
