Bio
Michelle earned a master’s degree in biology, focusing on molecular genetics, at Texas A&M University in 2012. She then earned a master’s degree in science and technology journalism in 2014. Michelle is a faculty member at Texas A&M University in the College of Veterinary Medicine, where she helps biomedical sciences students improve their writing and revising skills. She also leads a one-month faculty-led study abroad program that focuses on veterinary medicine in Thailand. Students learn about Thai culture and strengthen their veterinary clinical skills at an elephant sanctuary and animal shelter.
Michelle is currently a doctoral graduate student in cultural medical anthropology. Using illness narratives and other media, she explores gendered representations to understand how pain is culturally mediated through religion, gender, power, and privilege.
