Texas A&M to Host 2017 Nobel Prizes Symposium Nov. 3
Faculty from Texas A&M's Colleges of Liberal Arts, Medicine and Science will collaborate to present an exclusive educational opportunity for audiences across Aggieland -- a Texas A&M take on the 2017 Nobel Prizes.
Three Texas A&M University colleges are teaming up to present an exclusive educational opportunity for audiences across Aggieland — a Texas A&M take on the 2017 Nobel Prizes and the intellectual work behind each.
Faculty from Texas A&M’s Colleges of Liberal Arts, Medicine and Science will collaborate to present the second-annual event, set for 4 p.m Friday, Nov. 3, in Texas A&M’s Interdisciplinary Life Sciences Building Auditorium. A reception will follow in the ILSB first-floor atrium area.

Six presenters from the colleges will take to the podium to offer individual perspective, insight and expertise regarding their assigned Nobel Prize overview in a series of 10-minute talks. Each will be introduced by their respective dean or designated representative in the following order:

- PHYSICS, presented by Nicholas B. Suntzeff, Distinguished Professor of Physics and Astronomy, College of Science

- CHEMISTRY, presented by U. Jack McMahan, Professor of Biology, College of Science

- ECONOMICS, presented by Daniel Fragaidakis, Assistant Professor of Economics, College of Liberal Arts

- LITERATURE, presented by Mary Ann O’Farrell, Associate Professor of English, College of Liberal Arts

- PEACE, presented by Joshua Shifrinson, Assistant Professor of International Affairs, Bush School of Government & Public Service
All talks are open to the public, and no tickets are required. The event is jointly sponsored by the Colleges of Liberal Arts, Medicine and Science.
