Emily Davidson passed away after almost 40 years service to the college

The Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences is very sad to announce the passing of long-time faculty member, Dr. Emily Davidson on Thursday, June 7, 2018.

The Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences is very sad to announce the passing of long-time faculty member, Dr. Emily Davidson on Thursday, June 7, 2018. Davidson came to Texas A&M in 1980. She received her Ph.D. in Clinical and Developmental Psychology from The State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1975.

Davidson was an associate professor who truly enjoyed helping students reach their educational goals. During her time here, she received numerous letters of recognition and gratitude from students who state that she made a profound impact on their lives.

She served for several years as the director of graduate studies as well as a member of the Promotion and Tenure Committee, Advisory Committee and Graduate Studies Committee for more than 12 years.

She was the recipient of a Distinguished Teaching Award in 1986, Diversity Award in 1992 and the University Honors Teacher-Scholar Award in 1996.

In December of 2016, Dr. Davidson decided to retire from the department. She enjoyed her retirement traveling abroad and spending time with her sisters.

She was admired and adored by everyone who had the pleasure of spending time in her presence and will be truly missed by the faculty, staff and students.
