Bio

Lee Markham Shaw is a doctoral student studying health communication at the intersection of mental health, gender performance, and media representation. Lee utilizes a critical cultural lens, backed by feminist theory and his experience in the advertising industry, to examine both the macro- and micro-level discourses which perpetuate the stigma surrounding mental illness and how these interactions affect health outcomes. He has worked as the interactive designer and advertising liaison to the Communicating Diversity Conference.
