Introduction

Mike Rold joined the faculty at Texas A&M University in the fall of 2017.  Before arriving in College Station, Dr. Rold spent three years as a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Studies at West Virginia University.  His academic interests include media and how the television shows, movies, and music we consume help influence our sense of self and the interpersonal relationships we form.  Dr. Rold is also interested in the study of emotions, communication apprehension, and speech anxiety–topics he tries to cover extensively in his public speaking and media courses.  In his spare time Mike enjoys running and playing the guitar

Bio

Dr. Mike Rold arrived in College Station in 2017 after a three-year visiting position at West
Virginia University. A graduate of Louisiana State University’s Department of Communication
Studies, Dr. Rold teaches courses in media theories, media campaigns, and media industries. In his
spare time Mike enjoys running and playing the guitar. He has also nearly perfected cooking a
steak so that it’s just the right amount of pink in the middle.
