Prof. Jason Lindo and former TAMU PhD Student Maria Padilla-Romo’s Research Cited in “The Atlantic”

Jason Lindo (Professor, TAMU), and Maria Padilla-Romo (Assistant Professor, University of Tennessee) were recently cited in an article in “The Atlantic”. The article “What History Says Will Happen Next in Iran” referenced Jason and Maria’s research on the effects of targeting high-ranking gang members on homicide rates in Mexico when discussing current events in Iran.

Jason Lindo is a Professor of Economics at Texas A&M University. His research is primarily focused on children and young adults, with an emphasis on health and education. He is a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research and a Research Fellow of the Institute for the Study of Labor.

Maria Padilla-Romo received her PhD in Economics from Texas A&M in May of 2017. She currently is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee.  Her research interests include applied microeconomics, public economics and development economics on topics including Mexico’s drug war and the effects of full-time schools on academic performance.
