Glasscock Online Writing Groups Grant

New Funding Opportunity! As faculty and students navigate their work on research projects amid continued instability from the pandemic situation, it’s important to facilitate the creation of routine and to establish patterns. Virtual writing communities offer a valuable opportunity to immerse oneself in academic inquiry.

The Glasscock Center is offering 5 new, responsive grants of $250 to organizers for the purpose of establishing online writing groups. The aim of these groups is to cultivate virtual writing communities which foster connection, structure, and encouragement for creation and reconnection with research. Participants in the writing groups share the goal of stimulating intellectual exchange through writing that furthers their inquiries into common scholarly concerns, as well as cross-disciplinary work.

Groups may hold virtual meetings regularly or scheduled check-ins via email or Google Groups, for example, to discuss progress and/or review installments. Groups should be comprised mainly of TAMU faculty or graduate students, but may also include some participants from other institutions.

Eligibility & Requirements:

  • Faculty and graduate students in affiliated departments are eligible to apply as an organizer of an online writing group.
  • Groups will be required to have a minimum of 10 meetings, and are asked to keep a meeting log.
  • Groups will be asked to submit a final collaborative report form upon completion of their group’s activities.

Please NOTE: Convenors of currently-supported Glasscock Humanities Working Groups are ineligible to apply.

Deadline: Applications will be reviewed as they are received. The final deadline is June 26, 2020.
