Publication Support Grant

ABOUT: Up to three grants per semester of $1,500 each are available to support the costs of publishing a manuscript of humanities-related scholarship. (Four grants per semester will be available for the 2021-22 application year.) This grant is intended to cover costs for substantive enhancements to the manuscript which are essential for publication. Eligible enhancements are graphics and figures, maps, tables and diagrams, permissions and translation costs. Lesser priority will be given to requests for the funding of editing and indexing costs. All manuscripts must be accepted for publication or in press when the request is submitted. This should be documented in the application. Monograph manuscripts will be given priority over articles and book chapters. This grant is not available retroactively for works that have already been printed.

Publications receiving support must acknowledge “The Melbern G. Glasscock Center for Humanities Research.”

ELIGIBILITY: Tenured, tenure-track, and Academic Professional track faculty members in affiliated departments are invited to apply. Priority will also be given to applications from pre-tenure faculty.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to consult with a Glasscock Center Advisory Committee member prior to submitting an application.

ADDITIONAL MATERIALS: Please upload the following items or email as an attachment to

  • Acceptance letter from the press or, preferably, a letter indicating the current publication status of the manuscript
  • Letter or electronic correspondence from the press, editing service, or other appropriate service indicating the  anticipated costs for which funding is sought

Applications will be considered incomplete until all information has been received, at which time an e-mail confirming receipt will be sent to you. Upon form submission, you should be redirected to a confirmation screen and receive an automatic confirmation email. Applicants are normally notified of award decisions by three weeks from the application deadline.
