ABOUT: Grants of $1,500 each are available to support the costs of publishing a manuscript (monography, edited book, or journal article) of original humanities scholarship. This grant is intended to cover costs for substantive enhancements to the manuscript which are essential for publication. Eligible enhancements include costs associated with producing graphics and figures, maps, tables and diagrams, copyright permissions, and translation costs. Lesser priority will be given to requests for the funding of indexing costs. All manuscripts must be accepted for publication or in press when the request is submitted. This grant is not available retroactively for works that have already been printed. We ask that applicants for all Glasscock Center grants read our Climate and Inclusion Statement here.
Publications receiving support must acknowledge “The Melbern G. Glasscock Center for Humanities Research.”
ELIGIBILITY: All faculty and graduate students at Texas A&M University whose work is in the humanities in alignment with the Glasscock Center mission.
ADDITIONAL MATERIALS: Please upload the following items to the application form or email as an attachment to glasscock@tamu.edu:
- Acceptance letter from the press or, preferably, a letter indicating the current publication status of the manuscript
- Letter or electronic correspondence from the press, editing service, or other appropriate service indicating the anticipated costs for which funding is sought
Applications will be considered incomplete until all information has been received, at which time an e-mail confirming receipt will be sent to you. Upon form submission, you should be redirected to a confirmation screen and receive an automatic confirmation email. If you do not receive either of these, there may have been a problem with your application and you will need to resubmit. If you have any questions, please call (979) 845-8328.
Applicants are normally notified of award decisions by three weeks from the application deadline.
We recommend answering application questions in a Word document and saving it for your records before pasting it into our form for submission.
