"Censored Intimacies: AIDS Prevention in France"

In the early 1990s, a young French filmmaker made a documentary about AIDS that featured a group of youths in the suburbs of Lyon. The French state censored the film before he could distribute it. This talk draws on discussions with the director, as well as his personal archives, to explore what the film can tell us about French policy with regards to AIDS prevention.
