Undergraduate Humanities Research Symposium
The Undergraduate Humanities Research Symposium (UHRS) Committee consists of current and former participants in Glasscock undergraduate humanities research programs. Throughout the academic year, the UHRS Committee meets to develop the goals and structure of the event.
Fabiana Baez
Fabiana Baez is a Biology major with a Business minor at Texas A&M University on the pre-med track. She is a Glasscock Undergraduate Research Scholar focusing on narrative medicine and pregnancies in Texas and serves on the Undergraduate Research Humanities Department Committee (2025–2026), where she is passionate about opening an inclusive space for humanities research to expand. Fabiana also contributes as a Hullabaloo U Peer Mentor for freshmen and a Biochemistry Peer Tutor, while being actively involved with TAMU BUILD, the Emergency Care Team, and the Love Thy Neighbor Clinic. Outside academics, she enjoys spending quality time with loved ones, staying active in the gym, and expressing herself through fashion.
Joshua A. Gonzalez
Joshua Alberto Gonzalez is a third-year history major at Texas A&M, dual-minoring in Health Humanities and Professional Writing and participating in the Legal History certificate program. A transfer-student from the Lone Star College system, graduating with an Associate of Arts in Criminal Justice, he is excited to pursue his undergraduate thesis research inspired by this seminar, which will focus on examining scientific data that illuminates historic herding practices of Indigenous Americans.
Miranda Martinez
Miranda Martinez is a senior pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Women and Gender Studies. She currently serves as Vice President of the Global Surgery Student Alliance and works on campus as a peer mentor for Aggie Peer Connect. Miranda is passionate about research in women’s health, particularly with an emphasis on narrative medicine. She plans to attend medical school to become a dermatologist specializing in cutaneous oncology. By combining her background in psychology and women and gender studies, Miranda plans to become a well-rounded physician who provides holistic, compassionate, and patient-centered care.
Autumn Simundson
Autumn Simundson is an honors English major with a minor in History from Houston, Texas. She is also working towards an accelerated Bachelor/Master program in English. Autumn is interested in cultural literature and materials from the nineteenth century onward, especially mass media, and is currently studying anxiety and shock in Victorian sensation novels. She plans to pursue a PhD in literature and work in higher education. She had a wonderful experience as a UHRS presenter, and can’t wait to contribute to an even more successful Spring 2026 Symposium. Outside of UHRS, Autumn loves live music and strategic board games.
