Research Interests
Jennifer Wells is a Ph.D. student in the Department of History at Texas A&M University. Her research focuses on identity formation in the early American republic. Her current project traces how printed cookbooks of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries asserted claims of American exceptionalism but within the bounds of an established British template. More broadly, she’s interested in exploring the intersections of race, gender, religion, and print and material culture to understand how notions of national belonging evolved over the long eighteenth century.
