Research Interests

Kaitlyn Ross is a Ph.D. student in United States and British history who specializes in the transnational spread of military principles and ideas during the World Wars, specifically in relation to gender. She is currently examining the rise of women’s service branches among allied forces in World War I and World War II and their legacy for modern women’s participation in military service. Additionally, she considers representations of female soldiers in popular culture, media coverage, and memory as part of cultural comparative analyses of the global women’s movements in the 20th century.
