Research Interests

Leslie is a master’s student working with Dr. Sonia Hernandez. She specializes in United States history, focusing on racial violence in nineteenth century Texas. Her research looks at the rapid shift in sociocultural and economic factors in Texas following the Texas Revolution and U.S. Intervention in Mexico provided an opportune setting for violence against racial minorities. As an intersectional scholar, Leslie’s research interests include Chicana/o and Latina/o studies; gender and sexuality; race, ethnicity, and migration; and the U.S. Southwest and its Borders.
