Research Interests

Madelaine Setiawan is a first year PhD student at Texas A&M University who specializes in U.S. Civil War and Memory. Her current research focuses on the memory of Southern Unionists in the Civil War, specifically General George Henry Thomas–how he is remembered and why he has not occupied a prominent place in American History. Prior to Texas A&M, Madelaine graduated Summa Cum Laude from Lee University with a BA in History and Political Science.
