Research Interests

Howdy! My name is Patrick Grigsby. I was born in Tucson, Arizona, but moved to Texas when I was one and have been here ever since. I graduated Texas A&M University with a BA in History and began the PhD Program in August 2021. My research will focus on understanding corporate consolidation, economic monopolies, and the origin of antitrust law during the American Gilded Age and Progressive Era. Since this is an issue that has been receiving more and more attention in contemporary political discourse, I hope my work will be able to help positively influence debates over the role of government intervention to restrain monopolistic practices. Outside of school, I’ve always been a passionate reader and am especially a fan of JRR Tolkien’s fantasy of which I make a point to reread every Christmas. I also love traveling to explore the National Parks system. I took up hiking during Covid because it was an activity one could do safely and I didn’t think I’d have the patience to make sourdough bread.
