Major and Minor

Familiarity with people in other times, places, and circumstances nurtures the human empathy that is the key to good scholarship, citizenship, and relationships.

Incoming first-year students can declare History as a MAJOR during the New Student Orientation. Current students wanting to change their major to History should consult with History Undergraduate Advisors, Robyn Konrad, robyn-konrad@tamu.edu or Adrianna Rodriguez, adrianna_rodriguez@tamu.edu whose office is located in the Liberal Arts and Humanities Building, Room 217 and 215. Current students must have completed 3 hours of history at TAMU – College Station with a grade of C or higher. (If a student has over 90 hours, s/he must contact the Office of Undergraduate Advising at the College of Arts and Sciences.)

Majors in all other fields are welcome as History MINORS! History is an ideal complement to virtually any course of study at Texas A&M. Students in the sciences and engineering, for example, benefit by sharpening their writing and critical thinking skills.

The History minor requires 15 hours of history with 6 hours at the 100/200 level and 9 hours at the 300/400 level in History. You may use HIST 105 and HIST 106 toward the History minor. To declare a History minor, you should speak with your major advisor and ask them to enter it into your degree evaluation. If you have any questions about the History minor, please contact Robyn Konrad, robyn-konrad@tamu.edu; or Adrianna Rodriguez, adrianna_rodriguez@tamu.edu.
