Why History?

History prepares students to thrive in our increasingly complex, globalized world. Graduates with a BA or BS in History are trained to apply critical thinking skills to past and contemporary events, execute quality research, and communicate verbally and in writing at a professional level. They not only make informed global citizens, but possess the intellectual competencies that many employers continue to value above all others.

TAMU offers over one hundred undergraduate courses on peoples, ideas, and cultures from around the world and across the ages. Our faculty are devoted to developing students’ ability to understand how studying history can help solve some of today’s most pressing problems. To engage in the art of history is to tackle the challenges of the present.

You’ll be in good company. Look who else was a History major!
