Texas A&M Today published an article in tribute to the life and career of  Dr. John J. McDermott, Distinguished Professor of Philosophy, who passed away Sunday, Sept. 30th. The article is titled, “Philosophy Professor John J. McDermott Remembered as Conscience of Texas A&M, Top In His Field” and includes some of his most significant contributions to the field of Philosophy and to the University, as well as warm words from his friends and colleagues.

 

The Philosophy Department is sad to share the news of the death of Dr John J. McDermott, Distinguished Professor of Philosophy and Humanities at Texas A&M University. Callaway-Jones Funeral Home recently published an obituary for Dr. John J. McDermott: https://www.callawayjones.com/dr-john-mcdermott/ . The obituary includes details of a public reception for his friends, family and colleagues from 1.00-3.30pm Saturday October 13th at the “McDermott Library” (701 S. Dexter Drive), and of a memorial fund that has been established in his name.
