Congratulations to Dr. Daniel Conway for being selected as a Fulbright US Scholar for 2022-2023 by a presidentially appointed 12-member board as a reflection of his leadership and contributions to society. The Fulbright Program is devoted to increasing mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. In being named a Fulbright Scholar, Dr. Conway joins the world’s largest and most diverse international educational exchange program with more than 400,000 alumnus of the program since it was established in 1946. Dr. Conway will be hosted by Deakin University, near Melbourne, Australia where he will be on research leave for the Spring semester of 2023.

While in Australia, Dr. Conway will study and if given the opportunity assist with the efforts of local scholars and practitioners as they attempt to offer “social and spiritual reparations to the indigenous peoples whom the settlers of Australia mistreated and displaced. The research is meant to inform and refine an understanding of the psychological and social conditions of genocide and other crimes against humanity. In particular the work is to determine if and how reparations for genocidal violence might be understood to be consistent with the more familiar political goals and aspirations of modern nation states.
