During the Summer of 2021, we are offering virtual advising appointments only via Zoom.
If you are an incoming Freshman or Transfer student for the Fall of 2021, please email one (not all) of the advisors with your questions/concerns prior to making an appointment. If we can determine that it would be best to conduct an advising appointment for your questions/concerns, we will be happy to help you set up a time to meet with an advisor.
Students can utilize the Navigate portal to make an appointment. As a friendly reminder, students can access the online appointment system and select LA-Liberal Arts Undergraduate Advising for the College and then select LA-POLS-See Additional Details as to the location. After you have selected your time, you will come to a final screen and a student must scroll all the way down on that final screen to confirm their appointment. Otherwise, the appointment time will not be set.
Once your meeting is confirmed, you will receive an auto-reply email with instructions on how to access the advisor’s Zoom meeting room for your advising session. Although the appointment times will be listed for 30 minutes in Navigate, each session will be limited to 20 minutes. The primary reason is that at the conclusion of each session, an advisor will need to enter their notes for the session and may need to send any follow-up information/documentation to the student’s TAMU email account. With this in mind, if a student is more than 5 minutes late to their online advising session, an advisor may cancel the appointment and a student will need to reschedule for a later date.
As a professional courtesy, we ask for all students to please make sure that your username lists your first and last name prior to entering the advisor’s virtual waiting room. If your visible Zoom username does not display your first and last name, you will not be admitted to the advisor’s Zoom room for your appointment or virtual drop-in advising hours.
If you have any trouble utilizing Zoom, please email the advisor with whom you have an appointment to make different arrangements, such as an advising session over the phone.
