Biography

Danielle Porter (she/her) is a fifth-year doctoral candidate in Clinical Psychology at Texas A&M University. Originally from Tennessee, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Spanish from the University of Memphis. Danielle’s clinical work centers on delivering culturally adapted, evidence-based practices to youth and families of color. Her research interests include utilizing a community-based participatory approach to explore the intersection of racism and health, the processes of ethnic and racial identity formation, and the development of multisystemic resilience among youth of color. For her dissertation, she examines how systemic racism in healthcare settings impacts Black adolescents’ and young adults’ confidence in navigating the healthcare system, while investigating the protective roles of racial socialization and positive racial identity. Danielle aspires to bridge the gap between research and practice to increase quality, holistic, collaborative care for communities of color.
