Biography

Nasim Vaseiezadeh (Pronounced: Na-seem Vaa-seh-ee zaa-deh) is completing her Ph.D. in Sociology at Texas A&M University. Her research focuses on race, ethnicity, and gender and their relation to power. Using a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods, she has explored the relationship between society, politics, and group identification in several of her published journal articles. Her current research engages with the contributing factors and the mechanisms through which negative sentiments toward racialized minority groups are produced and expressed, as well as their consequences for the target groups and the hosting society. In her dissertation, she investigates attitudes toward racialized minority groups, focusing on the role of framing in making sense of racial demographic changes. She also analyzes the relationship between parental racial/skin tone reflected appraisal and assimilation levels among the Latinx population. She has presented her findings at various conferences, including the Annual Meetings of the American Sociological Association (ASA) and the Population Association of America (PAA). She previously earned a Ph.D. in International Relations from the University of Tehran, Iran, and holds master’s degrees in International Relations and Political Science from the University of Tehran and Texas A&M University, respectively.
