Bio

Amber Blazek is a doctoral candidate in sociology at Texas A&M. Her areas of specialization are organizational, political, and environmental sociology. She is currently focused on two primary research projects. First, her current dissertation research focuses on the influence of corporate characteristics and corporate-community relations on energy corporations’ CO2 emissions from 2010-2019. Second, she is researching changes in the oil and gas majors’ rhetorical framing of climate change from 2010-2019. Her overall goal is to bridge these two projects to critically compare the oil and gas majors’ climate change behavior and rhetoric, as well as provide theoretical possibilities for successfully dealing with the ongoing crisis. While at Texas A&M, she has taught Introduction to Sociology, Social Problems, Methods of Social Research, and Classical Sociological Theory. She was a 2021 College of Liberal Arts Summer Dissertation Fellow and 2019-2020 Energy Institute Fellow. She is also a current member of the Executive Steering Committee for the Academy for Future Faculty (AFF).
