Bio

Linzi Berkowitz is a doctoral candidate whose research interests include political economy, political sociology, social class, organizational sociology, and social theory. Linzi received her Master of Arts in sociology from San Diego State University where she partook in public policy research surrounding wages and working conditions of local taxi drivers prior to the creation of ride sharing. Her current research examines the political economy of the American real estate industry with interest in the centralization and lack of regulation related to publicly traded home building corporations in the aftermath of the 2008 Global Financial Crisis. Her dissertation focuses on the deregulation of FHA building codes and minimum property standards for single-family homes to accelerate home construction to meet the demand for mortgages leading up to the 2008 Mortgage Crisis. Linzi has contributed to the forthcoming New Handbook of Political Sociology in which she co-authored the chapter on conflict theory with Dr. Harland Prechel.
