2-Year Postdoctoral Research Position with the Center for Aging, Climate, and Health (CACHE) at the University of Colorado Boulder

The new Center for Aging, Climate, and Health (CACHE) at the University of Colorado Boulder is recruiting a postdoctoral associate with expertise in demographic analysis, with preference for additional experience with spatial analyses and/or population-environment research.

The position is a two-year appointment, contingent on performance, to start ASAP but no later than June 1.

The Center for Aging, Climate, and Health is a joint effort led by five population research units:

  • University of Colorado Boulder (CU) Population Center (CUPC)
  • City University of New York (CUNY) Institute for Demographic Research (CIDR)
  • University of Washington, Center for Studies in Demography and Ecology (CSDE)
  • University of Minnesota, Minnesota Population Center (MPC)
  • Colegio de Mexico, Centro de Estudios Demograficos, Urbanos y Ambientales

This postdoctoral scholar will help develop an NIA-funded virtual research center that is fostering an interdisciplinary community engaged in questions linking aging, climate, and health. In addition, CACHE will create data resources and training materials to facilitate the integration of social and environmental data in the pursuit of aging-climate-health research questions.

Experience

  • Candidates must have experience in demographic research, the use of computational, statistical and data scientific approaches for interdisciplinary research, and data integration involving complex data. We expect candidates to have substantial experience with statistical analysis and data management and programming in the R environment, Python, and Stata. Knowledge of spatial analysis software (ArcPro/QGIS, R) a plus. They are expected to bring particular interest in interdisciplinary research and to participate in and develop future interdisciplinary projects.
  • The position is based at CUPC, which is housed in the Institute of Behavioral Science at the University of Colorado Boulder. The postdoctoral researcher may be remote but will be expected to participate in virtual and in-person activities at CUPC and occasionally at the other five institutions noted above. The postdoctoral researcher will also coordinate and participate in relevant interdisciplinary working groups across the five institutions.
