Position Summary
The Upjohn Institute is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to collaborate with researchers at the Upjohn Institute in Kalamazoo, Michigan and the University of Minnesota on work related to the economics of the early care and education workforce. In this two-year position starting in the summer of 2025, you will work on all phases of project research with a strong hand in estimation and interpretation of analyses. About 50% of your time will be devoted to the collaborative project, with the remaining 50% of your time to be used for independent research. You will be a coauthor on any projects or outputs to which you substantially contribute. You also will be able and expected to engage in life at the Upjohn Institute by publishing in the Institute working paper and policy brief series and presenting in the Institute seminar series.
This position can be remote with occasional paid travel to work in person with the project team.
Position Requirements and Preferences
PhD in Economics or econ-oriented Public Policy with a focus on labor economics required. This position also requires U.S. Census Special Sworn Status and experience working in a Federal Statistical Research Data Center (FSRDC). The postdoc must be located near and willing to work at an FSRDC. Preferred qualifications include experience in cleaning, linking, and analyzing large-scale data sets, experience in research project management, and familiarity with and a research interest in early childhood care and education markets.
Compensation and Benefits
This position pays an annual salary of $80,000. Benefits include paid vacation and necessary absence time, medical and dental insurance, life insurance, short and long-term disability coverage, and paid travel for approved research related expenses.
