LAAC Take your seat campaign

The “Take Your Seat Campaign” will allow all former students, friends and supporters of the College to give back to current undergraduate and graduate students.

Each person has the opportunity to purchase a seat in the new Liberal Arts and Humanities building set to open in Spring 2013. A gold name plate will appear on the back of a chair in one of the newly constructed lecture halls or discussion rooms. Each donor will be able to choose the name and/or class year to be engraved on the purchased chair.

A seat may be purchased for $1,000, to be paid within two years of purchase. Each donor may choose whether he/she would like his/her contribution to go to an undergraduate scholarship fund or a specific department within the College of Liberal Arts.

Regardless of where you choose to direct your giving, know that your gift will have a significant impact for the College of Liberal Arts.

LAAC Mentoring Program

The Mentoring Committee oversees a professional mentorship program that pairs LAAC members with current students of the College having similar educational backgrounds and professional aspirations.

Interested in becoming a LAAC Mentor?

LAAC Mentorships connect young alumni with current students outside the classroom. LAAC Mentors engage their mentees on a monthly basis and assist with the transition from the academic environment to the professional world. Mentors also meet with their mentees on campus at least once a semester.

LAAC Mentorships offer guidance from young professionals who provide insights with respect to networking, recruitment and career development. Interested students are encouraged to apply ever summer. Mentorships last one school calendar year beginning in August.

For questions about participating as a current student, please contact the Mentoring Program Chair at crladen@gmail.com

Recruiting Prospective Students

The Recruiting Committee engages high school students to learn about the College. The Committee has partnered with Texas A&M’s Cornerstone Program, which targets high-achieving incoming freshmen for an in-depth liberal arts experience. Throughout the year, the Committee welcomes prospective students through invitational dinners and other opportunities to meet with Former Students.
