Bio
Carolyn Kennedy received her BA in Anthropology from Concordia University in Montreal in 2012, and her MA (2015) and PhD (2019) in Anthropology from Texas A&M University, specializing in nautical archaeology.
Her research focuses on the development of hull designs and nautical technology of historic ships in northeastern North America as well as documentation and conservation practices of wooden ships. Her archaeological research projects include the Shelburne Shipyard Steamboat Graveyard project (2014-2016), the CityPlace Schooner Project (2018), the Alexandria Historic Shipwreck Project (2019-2020), and the Gaspé Maritime Archaeology Project (2019-present). Carolyn has also participated in projects in the Mediterranean and the Marshall Islands.
Interests: North American maritime archaeology, nautical technology, historical archaeology, public archaeology, analytical archaeology, and the conservation of archaeological materials.
