The Department of International Studies would like to pay tribute to a remarkable professor whose untiring service to the department and staunch support of students was recently recognized. Dr. Maddalena Cerrato is the recipient of the 2021 Wells Fargo Faculty Mentor Award, as well as the 2021 Director’s Award for Outstanding Service to Honors Programs. Created in 2010, the Director’s Award for Outstanding Service to Honors Programs recognizes the significant contributions of award recipients in support of the University Honors Program on campus. Factors such as teaching record, mentorship, and scholarly impact of the nominees are considered and reviewed by a committee of staff members during the selection process. On the other hand, recipients of the Wells Fargo Mentor Award are nominated and selected by honors students. The award is presented by the Honors Student Council. It acknowledges the truly outstanding dedication of honors faculty members actively facilitating student learning, the spirit of inquiry, and excellence in education, both inside and outside the classroom.
