What are you doing now?
“Currently applying to Public Affairs/Communication Studies at UT-Austin. Would like to eventually do a doctoral program in cultural studies or politics. International Studies gave me a way to see the world beyond the traditional disciplines of the social sciences. As automation and AI continues to advance, and the only aspect of any economy left is through human contact, I believe the future is in interdisciplinary programs for anyone wanting to develop this world and transform with it. This program provides the great opportunity to think about social structures (language, relations, power, etc.) in ways that only an interdisciplinary program can offer.”
What advice would you give current and future students?
“As great as this program is in developing students academically, my years there failed to see a clarity of what the program’s goal was in an economy. But I’ve come to see that after any process can be automated, the only thing left for us to do is become better humans. Learn to appreciate your time there and know that this faculty is of top caliber. You will have headaches trying to decipher what a political space means without thinking geographically. Abstract thinking can be of incredible value for this is where the concrete comes from.”
