Biography
Dyamon Brown (she/her) is a Clinical Psychology doctoral student at Texas A&M University. She is from Columbia, Mississippi, and received her bachelors degree in psychology from the University of Mississippi. She also received her masters degree in clinical psychology from Teachers College at Columbia University. Her research interests center broadly on the mental health of Black adolescents and young adults, with a specific focus on substance use, suicide, and trauma. While these topics may seem disparate, they are deeply interconnected within the experiences of many Black youth. Specifically, she is interested in understanding the pathways from trauma exposure to substance use and suicidal thoughts and behaviors among Black adolescents and young adults. Her goal is to develop culturally sensitive interventions, treatments, and policies that address these critical issues. She is also a Texas A&M Aviles-Johnson Fellow.
