Virtual Conference: Digital Commonwealth Virtual Conference, “Building Connections: Pixels & People” (04/30/24)
Registration is open for the 18th annual Digital Commonwealth Virtual Conference, "Building Connections: Pixels & People". The keynote speaker is K.J. Rawson, founder and director of the Digital Transgender Archive, as well as chair of the editorial board of the Homosaurus. The virtual conference is scheduled for April 30, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM ET. Registration is $10 for students, Digital Commonwealth members, and people experiencing personal hardship; $25 for non-members.

The Global Digital Humanities Symposium at Michigan State University (MSU) has opened free registration for its Virtual Symposium. The Virtual Symposium features keynote presentations from Sara Morais dos Santos Bruss and Rachel Adams, with a response and discussion, led by Alex Gil. Registration closes on March 11, 2024. The Virtual Symposium is scheduled for March 18-20, 2024. The symposium is free to attend however registration is required.

The Center for the Study of Dictatorships and Democracies (CEDID) at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona is hosting a virtual conference, "Towards a Spanish Civil War and Francoist Repression Digital Research Infrastructure". The event seeks to showcase the variety of online resources and establish a working group to explore possible frameworks for promoting the discoverability, interoperability, and shared management of digital heritage related to the Spanish Civil War and Francoist repression. The virtual conference is scheduled for November 20-21, 2023. The event is free to attend, however registration is required.

The International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF) is hosting their annual Online Meeting to introduce newcomers to IIIF and to provide a forum for discussion and dissemination for those with experience implementing and working with IIIF in a variety of contexts. This event is intended for a wide range of participants and interested parties (e.g., digital image repository managers, content curators, software developers, scholars, and administrators at libraries, museums, cultural heritage institutions, software firms, and other organizations working with digital images and audio/visual materials). The free, virtual conference is scheduled for December 5-7, 2023.
