Biography

Anand Datla is a doctoral researcher in the Department of Geography at Texas A&M University, where he is pursuing a Ph.D. He is an experienced development practitioner and a management consultant. His research explores nature-society relationships, particularly among rural communities. Anand is interested in teasing out the various dimensions underlying these relationships and how they intersect to inform and shape the experiences of rural women in the context of their daily interactions with water resources. Among other things, he seeks to study how education, both formal and informal, might influence these experiences. Anand’s interdisciplinary approach draws upon political ecology, human geography, and cultural anthropology to understand contemporary discourse, policy, and practice.
