Undergraduate Minor

Prospective Undergraduate Students

Acceptance and awareness of cultural diversity is not only a moral obligation, but an imperative in succeeding in a global, multicultural marketplace.  The Africana Studies Minor is an Interdisciplinary Program designed to give students critical and integrated perspectives on the historical, social, and cultural experiences and contributions of people of Africa and African descent.  The minor in Africana Studies brings together a rich network of scholars in multiple disciplines, including Anthropology, English, Film Studies, Hispanic Studies, Performance Studies, Philosophy, Psychology, History, and Sociology.

A background in Africana Studies complements any career field, whether it is business, law, education, engineering, the arts, or medicine.  It provides an invaluable foundation in critical thinking, research, writing, and analysis and prepares students of all majors to become engaged global citizens and informed leaders.
