Biography

Mikayla Renwick is a Doctoral Student in the Department of Communication and Journalism at Texas A&M University. She graduated from Temple University with a BA in Communication and Social Influence and a minor in Africology and African American Studies. Her research focus is on media, culture, and identity, but she primarily investigates the movement of Black people’s bodies nationally and transnationally. Her research interests are ties in media, race, geography, space and place, and colonialism. What drives Mikayla’s research is her passion for educating the Black community.
