NSF REU Site: Research in Social Inequality and Social Problems – Applications

We are proud to announce that the REU program will be back in Summer 2024. Applications will become available on this website on December 1, 2023, and will be due February 19, 2024

The Texas A&M Sociology Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) offers summer fellowships to do world class research.

This program was funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) under grant #1757813 for summers 2018, 2019, and 2021, and under grant #2244231 for summers 2024, 2025 and 2026.

Eligibility

NSF program guidelines stipulate that students must be US Citizens or permanent residents and be working toward a four-year degree (graduating December 2024 or later). In addition, our program requires that students have the support and endorsement of a home campus faculty mentor. Your home campus faculty mentor may be a tenured or untenured faculty member who is willing to support you after you return to your campus. Ideally, you should choose a mentor who has experience with research, publication, presentation, and applications to graduate school in the social sciences.

To Apply

Submit applications here.

Faculty recommendation form here.

Applications will require a copy of your unofficial transcript(s), a writing sample, and the email address of a faculty member at your university who is willing to serve as your home campus mentor and fill out a recommendation form (no formal recommendation letter required). When you submit your application, you will receive a confirmation email that includes your responses. (Please check your junk mail folder if you cannot find the confirmation email.)
