NSF REU Site: Research Institute in Sociology and Social Inequality – Applications

The REU program will not be held in Summer 2022. We will apply for funding to hold it in Summer 2023. Updates will be posted at this site.

The Texas A&M Sociology Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) offers summer fellowships to do world class research.

This program was funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) under grant #1757813 for summers 2018, 2019, and 2021.

Two female students in the program

Eligibility

NSF program guidelines stipulate that students must be US Citizens or permanent residents and be working toward a four-year degree (graduating December 2023 or later). In addition, our program requires that students have the support and endorsement of a home campus faculty mentor. Your home campus faculty mentor may be a tenured or untenured faculty member who is willing to support you after you return to your campus. Ideally, you should choose a mentor who has experience with research, publication, presentation, and applications to graduate school in the social sciences.

To Apply

We are not accepting applications at this time.

When the program resumes, applications will require a copy of your transcript(s), a writing sample, and the email address of a faculty member at your university who is willing to serve as your home campus mentor and willing to write you a letter of recommendation. When you submit your application, you will receive a confirmation email that includes your responses. (Please check your junk mail folder if you cannot find the confirmation email.)
