Job Listing: Assistant Professor in Digital Rhetoric (Tenure-Track) at the University of Oregon (No application deadline)

The University of Oregon’s Department of English invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor in Digital Rhetoric to begin on September 16, 2024. The successful candidate will have a PhD in English, Rhetoric, Communications, or a related interdisciplinary field. The new faculty member will join an energetic intellectual community with an established reputation in Rhetoric and Composition and emerging strengths in Digital Humanities.

This job listing does not state an application deadline, but applications for first consideration are due by November 15, 2023. The position will remain open until filled.

Research agendas might include:

  • Digital folklore and storytelling; social media; virality; conspiracy theories; digital poetics
  • Intersections of Feminist, Black, Indigenous, Latinx, AAPI, disability, and/or queer and trans digital rhetorics, ethics, and justice
  • Digital cultural rhetorics; participatory culture; political and/or activist discourse digital environments
  • Rhetorics of data and information sciences; data visualization; rhetorics of technology; quantification; critical code studies; networked rhetorics; machine learning and algorithmic culture
  • Embodied and cyborg rhetorics; posthuman and other-than-human rhetorics; AI rhetorics
  • Digital pedagogies; information literacies; multimodal composition; new media writing and rhetoric
  • Immersion, interaction, and play; ludology; digital games
