About Advising

Welcome to the English Undergraduate Program Office! We are here to provide students with information about courses, degree requirements, study abroad, and any other items of importance. Students are encouraged to make an appointment with an advisor every semester. On the day of your appointment, check in at LAAH 202 with an updated copy of your degree plan and any questions you might have your advisor ready.

Advising Syllabus: Take a look at the advising syllabus as a reminder of what you should expect form your advisor and what they will be expecting from you.

Undergraduate Program Office: LAAH 352
Academic Advising Office: LAAH 202

Office Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Walk-ins are welcome any time. However, students with an appointment will receive priority.

Please take a moment to read the updated protocol for advising for the fall semester:

The College of Liberal Arts will continue to meet with students virtually for advising during the fall 2021 semester. Should you prefer an in-person meeting, you may take advantage of our appointment times where you will be able to select your preferred meeting type in Navigate. To offer you quality academic advising in the safest possible way, we recommend that safety precautions, such as mask wearing and social distancing are followed.

  • Advising appointments can be made in Navigate through Howdy, and are available Monday-Thursday from 9:00 am – 12 pm, and 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm.
    • If you cannot find an appointment time in Navigate, that is because our appointments are fully booked. You can check availability again the next morning, appointment times are continuously released up to two weeks in advance.
    • Quick questions can also be addressed by email to either Sarah Borden (sborden@tamu.edu) or to the English Undergraduate Office (engl-undergraduate-office@lists.tamu.edu)
    • If you are unable to make your scheduled appointment time or no longer need to meet with our advisor, please cancel your appointment. This opens your slot for another student to schedule. Simply not showing up will count as a “No Show,” and you are only allowed three No Shows before the system locks you out from making appointments.
    • Please leave a comment giving our advisor a general idea what you need to discuss when booking your appointment. This helps make the most of your time!
  • During Pre-Registration (November 3-22) we will have virtual Drop-Ins Monday-Friday from 2:30-4:00 pm.
    • These Drop-In Times are only for questions relating to pre-registration issues and concerns.
    • You can access Drop-Ins via Zoom: https://tamu.zoom.us/j/99597141604
    • If you choose to come by in-person, please check in with our student assistant in LAAH 202 first, let them know your general concern (and which course, if applicable) and they will direct you appropriately.
