About Advising

Welcome to the English Undergraduate Program Office! We are here to provide students with information about courses, degree requirements, study abroad, and any other items of importance. Students are encouraged to make an appointment with an advisor every semester. On the day of your appointment, check in at LAAH 202 with an updated copy of your degree plan and any questions you might have your advisor ready.

Advising Syllabus: Take a look at the advising syllabus as a reminder of what you should expect form your advisor and what they will be expecting from you.

Undergraduate Program Office: LAAH 352
Academic Advising Office: LAAH 202

Office Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Walk-ins are welcome any time. However, students with an appointment will receive priority.

Please take a moment to read the updated protocol for advising for the fall semester:

The College of Liberal Arts will continue to meet with students virtually for advising during the fall 2021 semester. Should you prefer an in-person meeting, you may take advantage of our appointment times where you will be able to select your preferred meeting type in Navigate. To offer you quality academic advising in the safest possible way, we recommend that safety precautions, such as mask wearing and social distancing are followed.

NOTE: From September 13–October 1, English advising appointments are available Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9:00 – 11:00 am and 2:00 – 4:00 pm.

Our advisor is no longer having virtual drop-in times due to lack of use, and will able to open more appointment times as a result. If you are unable to find any open appointment slots, please send an email to Sarah Borden directly. She may be able to schedule with you that way.

Our advisor's Wednesday appointment times are for International Studies, Classics, and Modern Languages Majors/Minors only. If you are an English major and schedule using an INTS/MODL/CLSS appointment slot, you must leave a comment stating that your question specifically pertains to the INTS department or your appointment will be cancelled.

All appointments will now be virtual by default. If you must meet in person, please send a request via email. We can accommodate in-person appointments as necessary. To offer you quality academic advising in the safest possible way, we recommend that safety precautions (such as wearing a mask and social distancing) are followed.

  • Since available appointments are limited, we ask that any quick questions please be submitted via email to either Sarah Borden or the English Undergraduate Office (engl-undergraduate-office@lists.tamu.edu).
  • If you are unable to make your scheduled appointment time or no longer need to meet with our advisor, please cancel your appointment. This opens your slot for another student to schedule. Simply not showing up will count as a “No Show,” and you are only allowed three No Shows before the system locks you out from making appointments.
  • Please leave a comment giving our advisor a general idea what you need to discuss when booking your appointment. This helps make the most of your time!
