Prospective Students

Freshman

The Office of Admissions makes all freshman admissions decisions. If you have questions about your application or any admissions requirements, please contact Admissions Customer Service. 

The Department of English advisors are happy to meet with prospective students and their families to answer questions about our degree plans and how your AP or other transfer credits could apply towards degree progress at Texas A&M. If you would like to schedule a prospective student advising appointment, please fill out our meeting request form at least one week in advance of your planned campus visit.

Transfer

The minimum requirements for admission to the College of Liberal Arts are:

  • At least 24 hours of graded transferable coursework
  • At least a 2.75 transfer GPA
  • An admissions application completed by the appropriate deadline

The College of Liberal Arts makes all transfer admissions decisions. If you have questions about your application or any admissions requirements, please contact a Liberal Arts advisor. Meeting these minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. For a list of recommended courses to complete before applying for transfer admissions, please see our Transfer Course Sheet.

The Department of English advisors are happy to meet with prospective transfer students to answer questions about our degree plans and how your potential transfer credits could apply towards degree progress at Texas A&M. If you would like to schedule a prospective student advising appointment, please fill out our meeting request form at least one week in advance of your planned campus visit.

Change of Major

If you would like to change your major to English, you must meet the following requirements:

  • At least a 2.0 GPA overall
  • Completed at least one ENGL course at TAMU with a grade of C or better
  • No more than 89 completed hours

Please make an appointment with an advisor if you would like to discuss changing your major to English.
