PURPOSE | Secondary-sponsorship for lectures, conferences, workshops, exhibitions, performances, etc. |
AMOUNT | Matching funds up to $3,000 |
OPEN TO | Full-time faculty (non-visiting) and currently-enrolled students |
The Glasscock Center supports the humanities at Texas A&M University by co-sponsoring events that include visitors from outside the university who engage with research in the humanities and humanistic social sciences. Such activities include, but are not limited to, conferences, workshops, lectures, exhibitions, and performances.
Co-Sponsorship grants provide matching funds up to $3,000. Matching funds may come from sources internal or external to the university.
Funds may be used to support such items as the travel and lodging of visitors, honoraria (no more than $2,000), guest receptions, and rental of space.
Faculty members seeking funds to support visits and lectures by scholars should also look at Glasscock Center’s Notable Lecture Grants, Symposium and Small Conference Grants, and Short-Term Visiting Fellowships to see if one of those funding opportunities is more suitable.
Applications for events taking place up to three semesters in advance of the application deadline will be considered. Because decisions are made late in the semester, requests to support events scheduled for the semester in which the application is made will not be considered. Retroactive requests will not be considered.
All Texas A&M full-time faculty members in non-visiting positions and students may submit requests for Co-sponsorship Grants. Applicants should verify that their event does not conflict with the dates of major Center events by checking with our web calendar prior to the submission of an application. (The Center will not fund events that conflict with our Book Prize Lecture, Fallon-Marshall series, or other major symposia or lectures.) Preference may also be given to individuals who have not received funding under this program in the past year. Events should be held on the Texas A&M University campus and/or in our surrounding communities of Bryan/College Station.
Components of the events supported by the Glasscock Center must be free and open to the Texas A&M University community.
All publicity must acknowledge the sponsorship of “The Melbern G. Glasscock Center for Humanities Research.” If you need our logo for publicity materials, download it here.
We recommend answering application questions in a Word document and saving it for your records before pasting it into our form for submission.
Upon form submission, you should be redirected to a confirmation screen and receive an automatic confirmation email. If you do not receive either of these, there may have been a problem with your form and you will need to resubmit.
If you have any questions, please call (979) 845-8328 or email glasscock@tamu.edu.
Applications will be considered incomplete until all information has been received, at which time an e-mail confirming receipt will be sent to you.
Applicants are normally notified of award decisions by one month following the application deadline.
