Grant Overview

PURPOSE Support to bring to campus external speakers of pre-eminent reputation for interdisciplinary scholarship
AMOUNT Up to $4,000
OPEN TO Full-time faculty

ABOUT:

All full-time faculty members are invited to apply for grants to support speakers of pre-eminent reputation for interdisciplinary scholarship, whose presence on campus will both promote the humanities and contribute broadly to the intellectual community. In the past, speakers supported by this program have been both standalone events and keynote speakers at conferences hosted at Texas A&M. (Applications looking to support guest speakers should also consider, as alternatives, the Glasscock Center’s Short-Term Visiting Fellowship program or its Co-sponsorship Grant Program.) No single award will exceed $4,000. Funds may be used toward honoraria (up to $2,000 per person), travel expenses of the participant(s), publicity costs, technical expenses, and rental of space. Applicants are expected to seek funding from other sources besides the Glasscock Center. Potential applicants are urged to discuss their proposals in advance with the Glasscock Center by contacting us at glasscock@tamu.edu.

ELIGIBILITY:

Applications for events taking place up to two semesters in advance of the application deadline will be considered.  However, requests to support events scheduled for the semester in which the application is made will not be considered.

Applicants should verify that their event does not conflict with the dates of major Center events by checking with the Center's web calendar prior to the submission of an application. (The Center will not fund events that conflict with our Book Prize Lecture, Fallon-Marshall series, or other major symposia or lectures.) In order to be eligible for funding, events must be free and open to the public. This includes the keynotes for a conference. Preference may also be given to individuals who have not received funding under this program in the past year. Events must be held on the Texas A&M University campus and/or in our surrounding communities of Bryan/College Station.

ADDITIONAL MATERIALS:

Please upload a c.v. (or equivalent documentation) for the proposed presenter(s) along with the required signatures form as a PDF to the application.

The Glasscock Center typically offers organizational support (arranging meeting rooms, travel, publicity, etc.) for events for which it is the majority sponsor.  If you are requesting this support, please be sure to note it on your application.
