The Texas A&M Philosophy Department recently hosted the Manuel Davenport Annual Memorial Alumni Lecture and Student Awards Ceremony at the YMCA Building. Former student and current Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Florida International University, Dr. Timothy Aylsworth ’07 & ’10, presented the alumni lecture, “Autonomy and Attention: Polarization, Social Media, and Democracy.”

The Graduate Essay Awards went to Rachel Cicoria for the essay “Toward a Pluritopic Multiplicity of Normal Sexual Embodiments”, InJoon Seo for the essay “Impermissivism, Sincerity, and Diversity”, and Hyo Won Seo for the essay ” An Afro-Pessimist Intervention in Environmental Ethics”. The Undergraduate Service Award went to Kendall McKee for her work for the department of the past year.
