Short-Term Visiting Fellowships

PURPOSE	Support to bring distinguished scholars, artists, and performers to Texas A&M for a period of five days, wherein the fellow will engage with faculty and students and deliver a public presentation
AMOUNT	Visiting fellows will receive a $5,000 stipend and coverage of travel and lodging expenses
OPEN TO	Full-time faculty (non-visiting) who have not hosted a fellow in the previous year

Research Support | Support for individual research projects

Global Publication Translation Grants (NEW)

PURPOSE	To facilitate the dissemination of original humanities and humanistic social science research by Texas A&M faculty to a global audience through translation of published work.
AMOUNT	Up to $10,000
OPEN TO	Full-time tenured/tenure-track faculty in the following Colleges who have been in their full-time position for a minimum of three years: Arts & Sciences; Architecture; Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts

Book Completion Fellowships (NEW)

PURPOSE	Provides release time to complete a monograph manuscript for publication with a leading press.
AMOUNT	A fellow’s department will receive $7,500 in unrestricted funds from the Glasscock Center (to be used at the discretion of the receiving department) as partial compensation for the loss of teaching.
OPEN TO	Full-time tenured faculty in the following Colleges who have been in their full-time position for a minimum of four years: Arts & Sciences; Architecture; Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts

Publication Support Grants

Summer Residential Fellowship at the National Humanities Center

PURPOSE	Participate in a four-week summer residency program through the NHC to assist in jump-starting or making substantial progress on a current project.
AMOUNT	Full cost of the program (approximately $7500); $500 travel bursary
OPEN TO	Full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty in the following Colleges: Arts & Sciences; Architecture; Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts; Bush School of Government & Public Service

Internal Faculty Residential Fellowships

Graduate Residential Fellowships

PURPOSE	Support for graduate students completing a dissertation
AMOUNT	$1,000 research bursary; monthly GAR stipend during residency semester; coverage of tuition and fees
OPEN TO	Graduate students who have been admitted to candidacy for a doctoral degree, completed all formal coursework (with a few exceptions), hold a minimum graduate GPA of 3.0, passed preliminary examination, and submitted an approved dissertation proposal

Undergraduate Glasscock Scholars Program (UGS)

Undergraduate Scholars

PURPOSE	The UGS program provides high-impact undergraduate research in the humanities through an intensive summer research experience and support for the completion of a year-long thesis project.
AMOUNT	$2,000 scholarship ($1,000 fall; $1,000 spring)
OPEN TO	Undergraduate Students who meet the LAUNCH Undergraduate Research thesis program criteria. (Note that UGS do not need to have senior status to participate.)

Undergraduate Researchers in the Humanities (URTH)

PURPOSE	URTH students will participate in workshops and activities throughout the academic year to introduce them to the variety of humanities research opportunities at Texas A&M University. These activities will prepare students to pursue a high-impact research project.
AMOUNT	$1,000
OPEN TO	Undergraduate students of sophomore or junior standing within the College of Arts & Sciences. Must be in good academic standing.

How awardees for Glasscock fellowships, grants, and programs are selected:

Once the application deadline passes, the Center director or associate director forms a selection committee typically comprised of Texas A&M University scholars from the Glasscock Center Advisory Board and previous recipients. In some instances, feedback from external scholars is solicited. The director and associate director, along with any potential subcommittee members, are expected to recuse themselves in cases of conflict of interest (i.e. a graduate advisee is amongst the pool of applicants for one of the Graduate Residential Fellowships).

Subcommittee members rate, rank, and comment on the applications. If the competition is high, the subcommittee will convene to discuss the applications and, generally following the National Endowment for the Humanities model, then be given the opportunity to re-rank and rate the applications. Program grants that involve Center staff logistical support are evaluated similarly, but they are also discussed by the Center’s leadership to determine fit within the larger body of programming the Center offers.

PURPOSE	Supplemental funding for lectures, conferences, workshops, exhibitions, performances, etc. that are being hosted by an academic department or unit
AMOUNT	Matching funds up to $3,000
OPEN TO	Full-time faculty (non-visiting) and currently-enrolled students

PURPOSE	Support to bring to campus external speakers of pre-eminent reputation for interdisciplinary scholarship
AMOUNT	Up to $4,000
OPEN TO	Full-time faculty

PURPOSE	Primary-sponsorship to support symposia and small conferences (1-2 days) as standalone events hosted by the Glasscock Center
AMOUNT	Up to $12,000
OPEN TO	Full-time faculty (non-visiting)

PURPOSE	Funds to support the costs of substantive enhancements to publish a manuscript of original humanities scholarship
AMOUNT	Up to $1,000
OPEN TO	Faculty and graduate students

PURPOSE	Provide release time to pursue a major research project
AMOUNT	$7,500 paid directly to the fellow's home department to offset the cost of the course release; $1,000 research bursary for the fellow
OPEN TO	Tenured faculty who have not held this fellowship in the last five years

PURPOSE	Support for research that will directly advance the student's program of research at any stage
AMOUNT	$3,000 (with the potential for an additional $1,000)
OPEN TO	Full-time graduate students

PURPOSE	To address a need for funding for research to pursue a book project, major article or series of articles, or other equivalent research projects
AMOUNT	$5,000
OPEN TO	Full-time faculty for whom research is a formal component of their annual assessment

PURPOSE	Faculty mentor a small cohort of undergraduate students in original humanities research projects
AMOUNT	$5,000 in bursary or non-fringe salary
