Admissions

Application Requirements

Incoming students start in the Fall semester of each academic year; there are no Spring or Summer admissions.

Selection Criteria

Below is the four-year average of MSIOP applicant data.

MSIOP Admission stats

Members of faculty thoroughly consider complete application packets (and interview performance) using the holistic admission review process as each component of the application is important. Holistic admissions also enable the strengths in some areas to offset weaknesses in others. Admission to the MSIOP program is based on the applicant’s academic background, test scores, related research and applied experience, and relevant skills and accomplishments that demonstrate the potential for excellence.

Note that meeting the program’s standards does not guarantee admission to the program. Admission to the program is based on a number of factors, including the previously listed requirements, the composition of the applicant pool, and incoming cohort size restrictions.

Deadlines

Fall 2022 applications open on December 20th, 2021. The deadline for the complete application packet to be received is February 1st for international applicants and February 15th for U.S. applicants. All components of your application, including letters of recommendations, must be on file by this deadline. The Office of Graduate and Professional Studies offers the Avilés-Johnson [Diversity] Fellowship to incoming graduate students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Applicants who wish to be considered for nomination must have a complete application on file by January 14th and include justification related to their eligibility in their application. Please do not ask to be nominated for this fellowship as the program makes this determination internally.
