ECON Staff March Charity Event

ECON Staff 1st Quarter 2023 Charity Event - Organized by Ashley Corn

On Monday March 6th, 2023, the Texas A&M Department of Economics staff dropped off over 200 pounds of donated food to the 12th Can Food Pantry here on the campus of Texas A&M University

Every quarter, the ECON staff pick a different charity in which to donate time or resources. This quarter, Ashley Corn (Undergraduate Advising Manager) selected 12th Can Food Pantry for the charitable event. ECON staff, Advisors and Business Staff all chipped in to donate canned and other shelf stable food.

The 12th Can is a student-run food pantry located at Texas A&M to serve all students, faculty, and staff in need of assistance. They opened their doors in November 2013, and have managed to serve over 90,000 pounds of food. https://the12thcan.org/

Ashley chose this charity because “I toured the 12th Can soon after it opened in 2013 and it made a lasting impression on me. Food insecurity on campus is very real for not only students, but faculty and staff as well, and I love their goal to eliminate hunger at Texas A&M. This organization provides a safe and comfortable environment to help Aggies get back on their feet.”
